The short version

Your first day is free. One plan and two ways to pay after it. $7.99 a month or $79 a year for the first 250 families, then $9.99 a month or $99 a year. Up to four children. No card is needed to start. We charge your card a day after you add it, and refund it in full if you ask within 30 days of that first charge. There are no tiers and no add-ons.

The free first day

Your first day costs nothing and needs no card: we build your child's wall straight away. After the free day the wall pauses until you add a card, and comes back the moment you do. We take the first charge a day after you add the card. Cancel inside that day, from the billing portal on the refunds page or by writing to support@lantern.family, and no money is taken at all.

Our 30-day refund promise is counted from that first charge, not from the day you start or the day you add the card.

The four prices

• Founding monthly: $7.99 a month, for the first 250 families.
• Founding yearly: $79 a year, for the first 250 families.
• Standard monthly: $9.99 a month, for every family after the first 250.
• Standard yearly: $99 a year, for every family after the first 250.

The founding price

The first 250 families to subscribe pay the founding price, monthly or yearly. After that the price is $9.99 a month or $99 a year. A founding family keeps its founding price at every renewal for as long as its subscription runs without a break.

Both are subscriptions. The yearly plan is charged a day after you add your card and again a year after that. The monthly plan is charged a day after you add your card and then on the same day each month; if that first charge falls on the 29th, 30th or 31st, a shorter month is billed on its last day. Either one runs until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the billing portal linked on the refunds page, and the time you already paid for runs to its end. We add no tax at checkout, so the amount above is the amount charged. The charge shows on your card statement as BLUE CAMEL AI.

Lantern is offered to families in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and the European Union. We hold no tax registration outside the United States, so no VAT or GST is added at checkout and the amount above is what you are charged. Any tax due where you live is not included in that amount and we do not collect it for you. Prices are in US dollars, so if your card is in another currency your bank sets the exchange rate and may add its own fee; the figure on your statement will not be exactly this one, and it can differ from one year to the next even though your founding price has not changed.

What never stops

A child's tablet does not go dark because a card expired. Once you have paid, whether or not your subscription is still current:

• The wall serves what it already has.
• Playback of already-approved videos.
• The parent's ability to remove a video or a child.
• Deletion and export.

If your subscription lapses, the library simply stops growing until it is current again.

What the beta costs

The beta price is the founding price. A family that joins the beta gets the same free first day, then pays $7.99 a month or $79 a year, and keeps that price at every renewal for as long as the subscription runs without a break. The families who were already in before the beta keep free access, and we give some families free access at our discretion; if that is you, you will hear it from us directly. The beta agreement still applies.

Your own keys

Adding your own Gemini or YouTube key in settings is neither a discount nor a premium. It is free, encouraged, and it moves your child's page to the front of the screening line. See how Lantern decides.

Refunds

30 days from your first charge, which falls a day after you add your card, no questions asked. After that, a prorated refund on request. The whole promise is on the refunds page.
